Hello Scrapbooking Memories....

Well hello there creative friends,

How have you all been?  Today I'm here to share my Scrapbooking Memories Masters entry... but first, I have a little secret to share.

My secret - I wasn't going to enter this year.. in fact, for the last 3 years I've thought about entering but then didn't.  This year was going to be the same, I had thought about entering and then in my self doubt I decided it would be best I didn't enter.  Sure, I would never know if I could win, but then I wouldn't embarrass myself either.  Then... 3 days out from the deadline, I saw a Facebook message from a scrappy acquaintance reminding me that the deadline was 3 days and that there was "still time" to get entries in.... so, I thought, what would I say to Miss 8 about this?? I would say, "You don't know unless you try" right!  So, 3 days out of the deadline, I started creating, some nights up until midnight to try and get the layouts done in-between my day job, being a mum and wife.  I posted my entry express post JUST in time for the deadline.  I created these 4 layouts from scratch, with photos I had on hand (not printed specially) all in 3 days - that in itself was a miracle!!

Well, I am so glad I did - even though I didn't win!!!  I am super blessed to have been given 2 honourable mentions and I've been invited to be on the Creative Team for 2015 (how cool is that!!)

A huge thank you to my very supportive scrappy husband who had to fend for himself for those 3 days AND put up with me being a little cranky from staying up until the wee hours :) xox

Life lesson - Listen to your own advise, chances are you're right!

WOW... 204 days, REALLY?

Hi Everyone,

204 days.... That's 6 months and 22 days... OR, 29 weeks and 1 day.  Yep, that's quite a long time isn't it?

So.. what have I been up to in that time and why have I not updated my beloved blog?  Everything and nothing all at the same time!  I've been doing LIFE.  We went on a big family holiday to USA to visit Disneyland and see the snow on Big Bear Lake - which was amazing, I said goodbye to our beloved pet cat Hamlet who made it to the ripe old age of 15, My darling husbands mother passed away - she was such an inspiring woman,  I've graduated to Year 3 and that sure has been fun.  I heard the saying "Not my Circus, not my Monkey's and I've been using it!  I've been making heaps of cards and there are a stack published in Australian Card Making and Papercraft Magazine (note to self, maybe I should update that published work page), I've taught at the amazing Workshop Wonders event, oh yeah and I've been scrapping just for fun!  No design team work and not a lot of challenges either, "just because pages" as I call them using all the pretty stuff I have collected over the years without restriction which has been so liberating!  and more... however, as a consequence of all this my poor little blog has been neglected!

A lovely lady on face book asked me for my blog address and I gave it to her happily... but then, she asked me, where do you keep your recent work?  Whoops!  Yep, this is a recent as it gets - LOL,  SO, get ready for an update!!  BUT DON'T WORRY - it's not going to be like great Aunt Gwen who insists you sit through 1000 of her photos from her trip to the city, I'll just share a few of my favourites.

The one thing I will say about scrapping solely for yourself, is you get a real feel for what your style is and what products you do truly love and it seems I have a "thing" for pastels and Crate Paper.

Thanks for popping by lovelies - here's hoping it's not another 204 days!

Yes, another challenge

Well hello there paper lovers!

Here today to share a layout I created for the October D'lish cybercrop.

This sketch was waaaayyyy out of my comfort zone and I knew I wasn't going to get to them all this weekend so I thought I'd give something different a try.  I've seen many a fabulous pie chart on a layout but had never given it a go, so here is my very first ever pie chart!

and here is the finished layout.  Circles are just not my thing (generally) so I did adjust the sketch to have more of a linear feel to it and of course added myself in a few extra layers :)

thanks for popping by today lovelies.

Love this Gal - a layout just because..

Soo nice to do some more creating this week.  This photo was taken on a trip to Melbourne in February with my bestie Kim.  We had a blast that weekend, eating, shopping and more eating!

Now, you are not going to believe this, but this layout was inspired by this challenge below (although I did not end up entering it).  I was trying to select papers to match the colours and I just couldn't make it work with my style with the papers I had on hand... SO.. I changed the light blue for the Denim/dark blue, the orange became the shade of pink/melon and the green turned into a more blue green than a yellow green to match my dark blue.  I also did add the yellow but by that stage I realised it wasn't quite going to fit the criteria of the challenge and really liked how it popped!

So whilst I couldn't enter it in the challenge, I am really happy with how it turned out and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have put these papers together without it!

Thanks for popping by today,

Look Who's Turning 7

Well, almost 8 actually, so it's time I did the layout for last years birthday!

Hi everyone,

Here today to share a little layout I finished off over the weekend.  This one was for the Dlish scraps monthly challenge.

I just loved this colour palette so I ran with that and I did "loosely" follow the sketch too.  I did use their "Just add paper kit" for the month too (well most of it) which kept things simple :)

thanks for popping by today.

2 layouts in 1 week = Happy dance

Well hello there,

This is what I love about crops, in particular Cyber ones.  I can scrap in my space with all of my things AND with the challenges, I'm motivated to actually create!

This was the second challenge for the crop I've done - I usually use tags but I have so many I thought it might be a good idea to use up a couple.

Here is my layout, I've used 2 in the background/paper layers and then I found these cute letter tags so I've used them too.  I love love love the photos in this one, Chris took them...  having a pro photographer in the family does come in very handy for a scrap booker!!

and some close ups to show all the little details...

I love these little Dlish bows... in the sweetest green and pink!

Thanks for popping by, its great you are here :)

A new look for "About A Girl" and a challenge

Hi there everyone!

Well, notice anything different?  Yup, I have finally taken some time out to revamp my blog and I am super happy with its new clean look :)

Lots to share today starting with a couple of layouts I did at the My 2 Angels retreat recently.  It was so nice to get out of the house for a day and meet some of the lovely ladies I have been stalking online :)  All super sweet and oh so talented!!

I have also had some time today to create!  This is for a challenge over at the Scrap Suite for Dlish scraps cyber crop - what a wonderful bunch of ladies they have there, really, they are so fun!

I've used lots of Dlish goodies here, the sequin bow, the enamel dots and flair and those cute little kraft love hearts.  I have used the number 3 and lots of shapes, squares, rectangles, circles and hearts.

Hoping to get at least one more challenge done this weekend, just not sure which one to choose!

Hope you like the new digs - please let me know what you think :)

Until next time,

Dlish Scraps 5th Birthday Cybercrop - Challenge No 7

Hello again crafty people,

Here today to share my last challenge entry, as soon as I saw Wendy's layout I knew I had to give this one a go.  Normally NOT my colours but I knew I had the perfect photo so jumped on in :)

and here is my take:

I've used another one of my new Dlish flair buttons here too, inside the sun.

Dlish Scraps 5th Birthday Cybercrop - Challenge No 8

Well hello there,

I'm back with more entries for the Dlish Scraps Cybercrop.  This time it is for Challenge No 8:

I have never used this technique so I was keen to give it a try.  I wanted to see if I could use it in conjunction with the techniques I would normally use on a background and I must say I think it went super well!

Here is my take:

and no, I did not make the cake :)  I commissioned it though!

and here you can see my stamping - it's the turquoise colour.  Caitlin is now 7 and 1/2 so I have been wanting to scrap the photos of her 6th birthday for what seems like forever.  So glad to get a couple done this weekend - you will see the other one in the rainbow challenge.

more challenge entries to come!

Dlish Scraps 5th Birthday Cybercrop - Challenge No 4

Hello again everyone,

Back again with another Dlish challenge - this time it's Agnus's mood board:

How we all love a mood board and this one - WOW how perfect for the pictures of Caitlin's 6th birthday "Rainbow, Unicorn, Disco" party - yup, she couldn't decided what theme and I said, sure, we can do them all - coz that's how I roll! :)

and here is my take:

I really wanted to have a play with the rainbow theme on this one keeping in mind that there will be several layouts for this event.  I created the drips with a selection of 13 arts mists and then once dried I've stenciled over with my Gelatos and a triangle Heidi Swapp mask.  I used one of my new D'Lish flair buttons too on this one, perfect for the center of my butterfly.

Lastly I added some colour coded sequins and kept the rest pretty simple.
